Background info about the model:
TRIUMPH TR2 FRANCORCHAMPS : The
"Le
Coupé Francorchamps TR2" was manufactured by the Belgian Triumph
importer Imperia at Nessonvaux. Mechanically the car was similar to the TR2
but it had a hardtop (glass panel) . Production from 1954 to 1956 A total of
22 pieces were manufactured . >>

Triumph Italia. Resin handbuilt model.
British TR-specialist Neil Revington initiated
a special restoration project in cooperation with Paul Gerring. They
technically modified and updated an Italia, but at the same time carried out
the project in such a way that replacement body parts (or even complete
bodies) could be reproduced. In order to be able to realise these ‘built to
order’ Italias, moulds were made. Restoration of their Italia commenced in
1999. The chassis was strenghtened, a rack-and-pinion steering was mounted,
and the car got disc brakes.Various body panels were imitated, the steering
was equipped with RHD, and a stainless steel exhaust was fitted on. They had
their Italia painted in a Ferrari yellow finish. The engine was modified
also: through injection this machine delivered 135 hp to the rear wheels.
The interior is black and the seats have a leather upholstery. Finally
Cosmopotive alloy wheels were mounted, and the car received additional (head)lights.
This racing Italia has been described in issue nr. 40 of Triumph World. The
1:43 scale model is an exact representation of the actual one-off Italia
Race. |
